Nutrition Telehealth Counseling (Service (without client sessions))

$330.00

Online

The Nutrition Telehealth Counseling package consists of one initial hour long consultation and three half hour follow up sessions during a period of one year (from time of initial consultation).

What to expect:
During an initial counseling session, you can expect to discuss your current eating habits, medical history, and any specific dietary needs or goals you may have. We will likely assess your current nutritional status and together make self-determined recommendations for changes to your diet based on your individual needs and any medical conditions you may have. We may also discuss information on healthy eating and lifestyle habits and identify guidance and support to help you make sustainable changes to your diet. Additionally, we may discuss meal planning and grocery shopping tips.

In our session, it will be important for us to identify any root causes to choices that are currently being made so that they can be addressed. Identifying the root cause of a health issue is important because it allows for targeted and effective treatment. Without understanding the underlying cause of a problem, it can be difficult to know what steps to take to address it. Additionally, treating only the symptoms of a health issue without addressing the underlying cause can lead to temporary relief but not long-term improvement or even may worsen the condition.

Be prepared:
Once you purchase a virtual counseling package, you will be sent an email that will require you to do a few things. One, it will provide a link to a health and wellness platform called Healthie. This is the HIPAA compliant secured electronic health record that we use for our patient information and contact. There is no cost to you to access the platform and you can also download an app to use on your mobile device.

You will also be given a set of health-information forms to fill out before we are able to meet. These forms will give us the information needed to better assist you in the counseling session. Please be sure to fill them out completely.

Lastly, you will be contacted by us to set up your initial consultation.

So, the things that you will need to do before we are able to have an initial consult are:

Set up your Healthie account.
Completely fill out and submit any requested paperwork.
Schedule an appointment.
In addition, please submit any recent laboratory results you might have gotten within the last 6 months. This information will be helpful for your assessment. You can upload the documents to your Healthie account once you have established one.

Meal Plans - Low FODMAP (Service (without client sessions))

We have partnered with Epicured to provide you with a sustainable solution to following a low FODMAP diet. A low FODMAP diet is a dietary approach designed to help manage symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a chronic digestive disorder that affects the large intestine. FODMAP stands for Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides, and Polyols, which are types of carbohydrates that can be difficult for some people to digest.

The low FODMAP diet involves limiting or avoiding foods that are high in these types of carbohydrates. This includes foods such as wheat, rye, onions, garlic, apples, pears, and some dairy products. The diet is typically followed in three phases: the elimination phase, the reintroduction phase, and the maintenance phase.

The elimination phase involves avoiding all high FODMAP foods for a period of 2-6 weeks. This allows the gut to settle and symptoms of IBS to improve. The reintroduction phase involves gradually reintroducing high FODMAP foods back into the diet to identify which foods trigger symptoms. The maintenance phase involves continuing to eat a diet low in FODMAPs but including more of the tolerated high FODMAP foods.

The low FODMAP diet may be helpful for people with IBS who experience symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, gas, and diarrhea or constipation. Studies have shown that the diet can be effective in reducing symptoms in up to 70% of people with IBS. However, it is important to note that the diet is not a cure for IBS and should be followed under the guidance of a healthcare professional, such as a registered dietitian, to ensure that nutrient needs are met, and the diet is followed safely.

Meal Plans - Anti-Inflammatory (Service (without client sessions))

Inflammation is a natural process that occurs in response to injury, infection, or tissue damage. It is characterized by redness, swelling, warmth, pain, and sometimes loss of function in the affected area. While acute inflammation is a normal and necessary part of the healing process, chronic inflammation can contribute to the development of many diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and Alzheimer's disease.

The foods you eat can have a significant impact on inflammation in your body. A diet high in processed and refined foods, sugary drinks, and unhealthy fats can promote inflammation, while a diet rich in whole, plant-based foods, healthy fats, and anti-inflammatory spices can help reduce inflammation.

Vegetarian meals are meals that exclude meat, fish, and poultry, and instead rely on plant-based sources of protein, such as legumes, nuts, seeds, tofu, and tempeh. Vegetarianism is a dietary practice followed bymany people for various reasons, including ethical, religious, environmental, or health-related reasons.

Vegetarian meals can be important for good health because they can provide a variety of nutrients, such as fiber, vitamins, minerals, andantioxidants, that are essential for maintaining a healthy body. Plant-based diets have been associated with a lower risk of chronic diseases, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and some types of cancer.

Vegetarian meals can also help to reduce saturated fat and cholesterol intake, which can contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease. Additionally, plant-based diets tend to be higher in fiber, which can help to regulate blood sugar levels, improve digestion, and promote a healthy weight.

Overall, incorporating vegetarian meals into your diet can be a healthy choice, as long as you ensure that you are meeting your nutritional needs and consuming a variety of nutrient-dense plant-based foods.
